Stu Oakes | Construction Risk Specialist

Oakes specializes in insurance and risk management for contractors and has done so since graduating from the University of Tennessee in 2007 with a degree in Finance. He leads a team that works with over 200 contractors throughout the southeast, supporting their insurance, bonding and risk management programs.

Oakes was named the 2011 Young Agent of the Year and awarded the Jim Alexander Service Award by the Insurors of Tennessee in 2015.  Oakes was a 2015 Insurors of Tennessee Board member while also serving as the chair of the Young Agents Committee.  He has been involved with the Associated General Contractors (AGC) since 2007 and has participated at the local, state and national level.    He joined the national Construction Leadership Council in 2014 and currently leads the Charitable Events and Scholarship subcommittee.  In 2016 he was asked to join the AGC of America Education and Research Foundation Board of Directors.  Oakes currently teaches a Construction Law and Risk Management course during the fall semester as part of the Construction Science Program at the University of Tennessee. He maintains his designations as Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS).

Oakes is on the Advisory Board of the Boys & Girls Club of the Tennessee Valley and is a member of the Advisory Council for the Friends of Tennessee Babies with Special Needs.  He is also a member of the Chancellor’s Associates at the University of Tennessee.  Oakes and his wife, Mary Bailey, have one son (James Carmichael) who is 21 months old and are expecting their second son this November.  They are active members of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Knoxville, TN. Stuart loves spending time with his wife and 1 year old son, playing golf and is a huge Tennessee Vol fan.

Jared Smith | Broker

Jared graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Business Administration with a major in Finance and a minor in Accounting. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Field Artillery and rose to the rank of Captain. Jared served in multiple positions in the 18th Fires Brigade Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. After the Military, Jared joined TIS Insurance Services, Inc. in the Commercial Insurance Division where he specialized in providing insurance and risk management programs for allied healthcare/social service organizations, information technology, and a variety of other niche industries.
